Case Study: Commercial Fire Alarm System installed at local seaside Heritage Centre

Proven Results

Norfolk Fire Solutions ltd were approached by the owner of a local Heritage Centre in Hunstanton, Norfolk who required a comprehensive fire alarm system installing to Grade L3 Standard across the heritage centre, its roof voids, communal escape route and the flat lobby of the residence above.

We attended and did our usual site specific survey to ascertain the requirements of the client. Once this done and quotes approved it was time to get they system installed.

We opted for the CTEC 4 zone twinwire alarm panel using Apollo Alarmsense detection throughout incorporating optical smoke detectors, heat detectors, sounder bases and also manual call points. The void detection encompassed the heritage centre’s roof voids and these additional devices were fitted with low level remote indictors to ensure that in the event of an activation, the cause could be quickly found. The communal stairwell was fully covered including an understairs electrical intake cupboard.

The flat was covered by a heat detector and sounder base in the flat lobby to aid compliance with the fire strategy for the building and also fire risk assessment provided by the client.

On successful commissioning all of the regulatory paperwork, certification and fire zone plan were handed to the client along with their fire safety document box for safe keeping of compliance documents on site.

We were also tasked to install an intercom system for the flat above whilst we were on site – we opted to install a videx 4000 series one way intercom enabling the resident to be contacted from the communal door outside and also gave them the functionality to release the ground floor communal door for any potential visitors using an electronic strike lock. We also provided a keypad for a code to be used for entry to the communal areas of the building for contractors and visitors etc.
